Online retailer Amazon has launched its Marketplace feature simultaneously in the UK and Germany.

Marketplace allows customers to buy and sell new, used and collectable items on the same page that Amazon sells the item new. This means that Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de users can choose to buy cheaper, second-hand books and other items via Amazon.

The feature was launched in the United States, on Amazon.com, in November 2000 and Amazon Marketplace orders accounted for approximately 15% of total Amazon.com orders in the fourth quarter of 2001.
