Online retailer Amazon.co.uk has reported an increase in the volume of traffic visiting its web site due to the release of the latest Harry Potter book.

Internet measurement company Hitwise claims that traffic to http://www.amazon.co.uk has increased by 49% in just under three weeks while the online book retailing sector has seen similar growth of 40%. Traffic has also increased to the official Harry Potter web site at http://www.harrypotter.com by over 70%.
